Janell F. Wheeler Smith, M.A., LMFT

Janell Wheeler Smith, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (#50033), has worked with children and families for over 25 years, specializing in the treatment of children, and provided individual, group, couples, and family therapy.

Ms. Wheeler Smith was employed with the County of Orange, California for 26 years and worked as a Psychotherapist specializing in the assessment and treatment of children with behavioral, social, emotional and academic difficulties.

She brings extensive experience with her background of working with schools assisting parents and teachers with child and adolescent issues. She is also experienced in crisis assessment, crisis management, and hospitalization.

As a Senior Social Worker, Janell assisted at-risk children and their foster families. She is sensitive to the needs of parents of adoptive children, or parents who have had, or are having difficulties with the Social Service system.

Janell also provides secure video-conferencing sessions for busy, highly motivated professionals. This is ideal for those who have time constraints and would like treatment in the privacy of their home or office. Home sessions may also be a good fit for those who are shy or uncomfortable with going out, parents who can’t obtain childcare, or teens who are more comfortable with digital technology.

She divides her services between her private practice, and is an independent consultant for crisis responses nationally and internationally for R3 Continuum and Compsych.

Janell’s office is located in Tustin, Ca., just north of Old Town.  Her office provides a comforting, nurturing, environment for both children and adults.   She is active in volunteering at the Child Abuse Prevention Center in Anaheim, Ca.
